The White Cliffs of Dover

I realized that I never blogged about us seeing the White Cliffs of Dover, so I am going to backtrack and do it now. When we went to Belgium a few weeks ago, we came home on the ferry from Calais, France to Dover.  The ferry was great! We paid a little extra for priority parking, and it meant we basically went to the front of the line! We drove onto the boat first, and the car was positioned to be at the front of the line to get off the ferry on the other end of the trip.  Once we parked, we went to one of the on-board restaurants and had a nice meal during the trip. The water was a bit rough, but it wasn't a big deal.

It was crazy windy!

At the end of the trip, we could see the white cliffs as we pulled into the harbor. They really are remarkable.  Then we drove up to an area to see them better and took a short hike.

We would like to get back there and take the time to explore the Dover Castle sometime soon.

And, no, we didn't see "bluebirds fly over the White Cliffs of Dover" as the Righteous Brothers sang about. I looked it up, and it turns out that bluebirds are native to America, and not found here at all. Oh well.
